Hayat-e-Madinah is not just a website. It is not a project. Think of it as a friend who genuinely cares about you, who always wishes the best for you, and with whom you can share what is in your heart.

What Is Hayat-e-Madinah?

As the name suggests, Hayat-e-Madinah means a life like the life of those who reside in Madinah. The name symbolizes a special, personal relationship with Allah.

Living in the blessed city of Madinah is, in itself, an immense blessing. But what kind of life can a person lead while living in Madinah? What does it mean to live a life that reflects the spiritual beauty, peace, and closeness to Allah associated with this sacred city?

These are the questions we explore here, at Hayat-e-Madinah.

The Background

In today’s world, a great many people have drifted away from their natural disposition. They have become distant from Allah, their Creator, and have wandered onto paths that lead them away from their true nature and purpose.

There is a fundamental principle to consider: the further we move away from our natural disposition, the weaker our connection with it becomes. As that connection weakens, unnatural influences begin to take a greater hold over our lives.

But what happens when we turn back towards our true nature, redirect our attention towards our Creator, and return to Allah?

The greatest treasure we receive, the very first gift bestowed upon us, is peace of heart.

When I reflected on this, a question arose in my mind: if establishing a direct connection with Allah is so simple, why are so many people not turning towards Him?

I realized that perhaps the people of today need to be gently reminded of this path. They need someone to draw their attention towards a relationship that is always within their reach, yet which they may have overlooked amid the noise, pressures, and distractions of modern life.

As I explored the matter further, I began to understand the way forward. From that understanding emerged a sincere wish: that as many people as possible, especially young people, should develop a simple, easy, and strong relationship with Allah.

That idea, that hope, and that heartfelt desire became the foundation of Hayat-e-Madinah.

The Fundamental Objectives of Hayat-e-Madinah

Our objectives are simple, but their meaning reaches deep into the heart of human life:

  • To strengthen the relationship between human beings and their Creator.
  • To attain peace of heart and inner tranquillity.
  • To awaken the desire for self-discovery and self-awareness.
  • To identify the simplest and most accessible paths that lead us towards Allah.
  • To prepare ourselves for positive change in the light of the Holy Quran, the blessed Hadith, and modern scientific research.
  • To volunteer our time and efforts to ease the difficulties of those around us and spread kindness and convenience in their lives, without expecting any personal benefit in return.

We believe that a better life does not always begin with extraordinary achievements or complicated changes. Sometimes, it begins with a small realization, a sincere intention, or a simple act of kindness.

And sometimes, it begins with turning our hearts towards Allah.

The Central Idea of Hayat-e-Madinah

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran:

أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَتَكُونَ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ يَعْقِلُونَ بِهَا…

“Have they not travelled through the land so that they might have hearts with which to understand? … Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts within the breasts that are blind.”

Surah Al-Hajj (22:46)

For a long time, the scientific understanding of the human heart focused primarily on its physical function as an organ that pumps blood throughout the body. Human thinking, reasoning, and understanding were understood to be functions of the brain, which is protected within the human skull.

Modern scientific and medical research, including the field of neurocardiology, has since explored the complex communication between the heart and the brain. Research has established that the heart has its own intrinsic nervous system, containing neurons, and that signals exchanged between the heart and brain can influence emotional processing, stress responses, and aspects of decision-making.

These findings offer an interesting perspective on the relationship between the heart, human feelings, and our inner experiences. However, the scientific study of the heart’s nervous system does not, by itself, prove that the heart performs reasoning in precisely the same way as the brain, nor does it establish the spiritual meaning of the Quranic concept of the heart. The Quran speaks to a deeper dimension of human understanding, awareness, and spiritual perception.

There is also a blessed Hadith that speaks of the hearts of human beings and their relationship with Allah.

Translation:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The hearts of all the children of Adam are between two fingers of the Most Merciful, like one heart; He turns them as He wills.”

Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated:

“O Allah, Turner of hearts, turn our hearts towards Your obedience.”

(Sahih Muslim: 2654)

This Hadith reminds us that the state of a person’s heart is not something to take for granted. A heart that turns towards Allah, develops a desire to know Him, and seeks His pleasure is a blessing from Allah Himself.

We may encounter countless opportunities in life, but the moment our hearts begin to turn sincerely towards our Creator is a gift of immeasurable value.

This is the central idea of Hayat-e-Madinah: to turn the heart towards Allah, nurture a personal and meaningful relationship with Him, and allow that relationship to become the foundation of a better life.

Everything we share at Hayat-e-Madinah revolves around this central idea.
